Pop up Pirate
Use this Pop up pirate game to encourage children in a small group to take turns. Each child must take it in turns to push a sword into the barrel to see if their sword makes the pirate pop up.
TIP: For children struggling to wait their turn start with them just playing with you, then build up to 4 children in the group so each child learns to wait for longer periods of time before their next turn.
TIP: This game is also good for developing colour concepts (e.g. ask 'do you want the blue or green sword?')
TIP: Why not use pop up pirarte as a motivation for practicing speech sounds. (e.g. encorperate into the game the rule that each person needs to practice their speech sound 3 times before they have their turn)
